PTK Strengthens Subsea Asset Preparedness Ahead of Chinese New Year and Ramadan 2026

Jakarta — The smooth distribution of national energy relies heavily on the reliability of subsea infrastructure that operates continuously behind the scenes. Although rarely visible, assets such as jetties and Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and sustainable energy supply. Recognizing this importance, PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) continues to enhance its operational preparedness through its Marine Services, particularly Underwater Services, in anticipation of strategic national periods such as Chinese New Year and Ramadan 2026.
Through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Marine Engineering (PME), PTK delivers comprehensive underwater services, including inspection, survey, subsea maintenance, as well as corrective and preventive actions. These services are designed to detect potential risks at an early stage and ensure subsea assets remain in reliable condition, thereby preventing disruptions to energy distribution operations—especially during periods of increased public energy demand.
Between 2020 and 2025, PME’s Underwater Services function recorded significant achievements, completing the changeover of six SPM units and the docking of three SPM units at various strategic locations. The scope of work included towing, dry docking, and SPM changeovers in Balongan, Balikpapan, Cilacap, and Tuban, as well as providing SPM rental support for Santan Terminal operations. These accomplishments reflect PTK’s consistent commitment to maintaining the reliability of offshore facilities that serve as the backbone of national energy distribution.
In addition to SPM projects, PTK’s Underwater Services have conducted 239 underwater inspections across various mooring facilities within the Pertamina Group. These inspections covered jetties, SPMs, Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) systems, and Marine Navigation Aids (SBNP) located at more than 18 strategic sites throughout Indonesia. All activities aim to ensure asset conditions remain optimal and operational risks are effectively minimized.
In terms of capability, the Underwater Services are supported by 35 certified divers and seven subsea engineers with extensive experience in the maritime and energy sectors. The team is equipped with reliable underwater equipment and operates in accordance with globally recognized Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards. This approach ensures that every subsea operation is carried out safely, precisely, and with full responsibility toward the marine environment.
Ahead of Chinese New Year and Ramadan 2026, PTK affirms that its Marine Services, including Underwater Services, will continue operating without interruption. This preparedness forms part of the company’s commitment to maintaining the continuity of national energy distribution during periods of heightened consumption.
President Director I Ketut Laba stated that although subsea assets are not visible, they play a decisive role. “Through our Underwater Services, PTK ensures that all subsea infrastructure remains reliable and secure, supported by experienced professionals, advanced technology, and world-class HSSE standards. This preparedness reflects PTK’s commitment to safeguarding the smooth supply of national energy, particularly ahead of strategic periods such as Chinese New Year and Ramadan,” he said.
With integrated and sustainability-oriented Marine Services, PTK continues to strengthen its role as a strategic partner in maintaining the reliability of national energy infrastructure while protecting Indonesia’s marine environment.
