PTK Conducts ISPS Code Simulation to Strengthen Energy Port Security in Wayame

Ambon – In the Ambon Bay area, one of the key energy distribution hubs in Eastern Indonesia, port activities involve more than just ships arriving and departing with energy cargo. Behind every vessel movement and cargo handling operation lies a maritime security system that must always be ready to address various potential threats. This awareness has encouraged PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK), in its role as a Recognized Security Organization (RSO), to lead the implementation of a Table Top Exercise for the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Integrated Terminal (IT) Wayame in Ambon. The activity represents a strategic effort to ensure that port and ship security systems remain prepared to safeguard the smooth distribution of energy an essential need for the public.
Through a structured, scenario-based simulation, various stakeholders within the maritime security system were involved to test their readiness in responding to potential security disturbances in the terminal area and surrounding waters. The exercise brought together Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO), Ship Security Officers (SSO), security personnel, terminal management, and port authorities to evaluate the effectiveness of security procedures, operational coordination, and response mechanisms to potential threats that could disrupt port operations, including cyber threats targeting communication and operational systems. This simulation also served as a shared learning platform to strengthen cross-functional coordination, which is critical in maintaining the security of ports and vessels.
For PTK, conducting the ISPS Code Table Top Exercise forms part of the company’s commitment to strengthening maritime security standards that support national energy distribution operations. In an industry that relies heavily on reliable maritime logistics, the security of ports and vessels is a key factor in ensuring the continuity of the energy supply chain. Through this activity, PTK can evaluate the effectiveness of implemented security procedures and ensure that communication systems and inter-agency coordination can respond swiftly when facing potential security threats in the field.
PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental’s Fleet Director, Dewi Susanti, emphasized that maritime security preparedness is an essential element of the company’s operational professionalism. “The Table Top Exercise for the ISPS Code is an important step to ensure that all personnel and stakeholders maintain strong readiness in addressing various potential maritime security threats. Through strong coordination between vessels, port facilities, and relevant authorities, we aim to ensure that energy distribution operations continue to run safely, reliably, and provide value to stakeholders and the wider community,” she stated.
Through the implementation of the ISPS Code Table Top Exercise at Integrated Terminal Wayame, PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental once again reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening maritime security systems that support the smooth distribution of national energy. This effort not only enhances the operational readiness of the company and its partners, but also contributes to the reliability of the energy supply chain, builds stakeholder confidence, and ensures a secure and sustainable energy supply for the community.
