Rapid Disaster Response in North Sumatra: PTK Maximizes Transko Sikatan Fleet to Deliver Aid via Sea Routes

PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the emergency response to the flash floods and landslides that have impacted various areas in North Sumatra. Through maritime operational support and the delivery of emergency logistics, PTK deployed the Transko Sikatan vessel to transport essential goods and relief supplies to Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) Port on November 27, 2025, after road access to the area was completely cut off. As a national maritime logistics company, PTK ensures fast, safe, and timely services to reach affected regions that are difficult to access.

Transko Sikatan has become a crucial alternative transportation mode to maintain the continuity of aid distribution. This strategic initiative reflects PTK’s role as a provider of supporting vessels that not only focus on commercial services but also uphold social responsibilities for the community. PTK continues to strengthen its capabilities as an adaptive and integrated maritime solutions provider, especially during emergencies that require rapid response and operational precision. This effort further reinforces PTK’s position as a trusted maritime logistics partner in maintaining the continuity of humanitarian aid supply chains.

“In emergency situations, speed and accuracy in distribution are top priorities. The operation of Transko Sikatan reflects PTK’s fleet readiness to support communities affected by the disaster. This is not only about maritime operations, but also about ensuring that aid arrives safely and on time,” said PTK’s Vice President of Fleet & Management, Dwi Wahju.

His statement reflects PTK’s reliance on operational reliability as a key foundation in disaster response. By utilizing a well-maintained fleet, competent human resources, and standardized infrastructure, PTK ensures every distribution process aligns with maritime safety standards and HSSE protocols. This is one of PTK’s key strengths in providing responsive maritime logistics services while supporting distribution stability during times of crisis.

PTK’s support in aid distribution is carried out through intensive coordination with Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM), PAG, and KSOP. Every operational step—from fleet inspection and technical voyage preparation to route planning—is conducted in a structured and data-driven manner. PTK’s internal digital monitoring system ensures that all vessel movements are tracked in real time, enabling faster and more accurate operational decision-making.

“As an integrated maritime service provider, we ensure that all support provided by PTK is accountable, structured, and compliant with regulations. Collaboration with PIM, PAG, and KSOP is key to ensuring aid is distributed optimally. This also strengthens PTK’s reputation as a strategic partner in maintaining smooth national logistics operations,” stated PTK’s Vice President of Legal & Relations, Amran Reza.

PTK’s consistent adherence to governance standards not only enhances operational effectiveness but also reinforces the company’s image as a responsible entity capable of delivering added value to stakeholders. In emergency conditions, PTK’s ability to ensure the continuity of logistics distribution becomes a vital element that supports national logistics resilience.

“PTK is present not only as a business entity, but also as a frontliner in ensuring distribution continuity during critical situations. The operation of Transko Sikatan and other maritime support demonstrates PTK’s capability and readiness to act quickly, safely, and with a strong focus on safety. This contribution reflects our dedication to serving the nation,” said PTK President Director, I Ketut Laba.

Through the synergy of a reliable fleet, cross-agency coordination, and the use of digital monitoring technology, PTK strengthens its role as a professional maritime service provider capable of delivering a positive impact not only for business operations but also for the wider community. These efforts reflect PTK’s commitment to enhancing disaster response, improving national logistics resilience, and delivering internationally standardized marine logistics solutions.
